WHAT WE DO

The Bolt Fund was relaunched in 2007 to help fund and manage the replacement and development of protection bolts and lower-offs throughout Cumbria and surrounding areas. Many of the bolts in Cumbrian crags were placed in the 80's and 90's and are now in a dangerous state and in need of replacement. Some have been replaced already however there are many still awaiting our attention.

The bolt fund is funded entirely by donations from the public and partner organisations like the BMC, this is why we need your support to continue our work, and keep your favourite crags safe.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

REPORT

If you see a dangerous bolt, route, or lower off that needs attention you can report it. We will fix things as soon as we can and your input is vital to our strategic planning for the work across Cumbrian Sport and Slate crags.

DONATE

The biggest difference you can make is to donate. The average sport route costs around £120 to bolt, if you enjoy a route please consider donating. The only way we can continue or work is with your support.

VOLUNTEER

Whether you are an experienced bolter or just good at heavy lifting, keep an eye on our Facebook page for bolting workshops or bolting parties to help us in maintaining the crags.

WHERE WE'RE WORKING

We're always working hard to try and develop and maintain as many of the popular local sport climbing locations as we can.
